Peterborough Youth Basketball Association

The PYBA was established in 2005 when two long-upstanding Peterborough basketball clubs – Saints and Storm – agreed to amalgamate into one association for the betterment of youth basketball.

Governed by a community board of directors, the PYBA aspires to be a community leader in the development and enrichment of basketball for youth athletes by providing a safe, positive, friendly, and gratifying experience through all levels of skill and competition.

Our club runs both recreational and competitive programs for youth from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 12 including:

House League (Fall, Winter, and Spring)

Little Ballers

3 on 3 Basketball

Hoop Dreams

Peterborough Power Rep Basketball.

Thank you to all our sponsors, staff, and volunteers who make it possible for youth in Peterborough to learn and play the great game of basketball!

Volunteer and Junior Staff

The PYBA runs on the strength of its volunteers and Junior Staff.  Our volunteers fulfill a variety of roles including coaches, managers, executive members, coordinators and convenors. Our Junior Staff is responsible for running our programs, coaching, reffing, and time keeping. Without these volunteers and Junior Staff we would simply not be able to run our many programs.

Not all of our volunteer positions require basketball experience, but we do provide training for our coaches and our Junior Staff.

Volunteer Screening

In order to ensure we provide a safe environment for our players, we require all volunteers 18 years and older to provide a Vulnerable Sectors Check. Once your form is submitting we will reach out to you to provide a letter from the organization, which will decrease the cost of the check. Whether you live in Peterborough city proper, or the surrounding counties all VCS forms can now be done online.
