PYBA Community,

We certainly have enjoyed having the kids back on the courts this summer. As we move into fall, our priority continues to be ensuring the health and safety of all those involved in our programs; players, coaches, volunteers, parents, spectators and referees.

Last week the OBA, our governing body, made an announcement that they were making plans “to require (subject to any additional developments in this area) proof of vaccination at Ontario Basketball games and events for the 2021-22 season subject to any Government-mandated exceptions regarding youth recreational sport and subject to legitimate exemptions based on Ontario’s Human Rights Code. Children who are 11 years of age and younger and unable to be vaccinated will also be exempted from these requirements”

We want to be thorough and transparent with our community and let them know PYBA plans to follow suit OBA’s decision. The full details of their plan have yet to be laid out. Once they are, we will update our policies and advise our PYBA community as quickly as possible.

Should you wish to read the complete OBA announcement you can find it here

We will continue to follow all provincial and regional public health guidelines, as well as the  Return to Play – Step 3 Guidelines set out by the OBA.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact PYBA Executive Chair, Sean Handa or PYBA Operations Coordinator, Jocelyne Stone.

Thank you for your continued support while we work through these challenging times.
